Static electricity is an electric charge at relative rest, which can be generated through physical processes such as contact and separation of materials, electrostatic induction, dielectric polarization, and the adhesion of charged particles. The phenomenon where the electric field strength formed by charged materials exceeds the breakdown field strength of the surrounding medium or causes charge consumption or transfer upon contact with other objects is referred to as discharge.
Electrostatic protection (anti-static) involves various technical methods and protective measures taken to prevent electrostatic discharge.
Electrostatic dissipative materials are those with a surface resistivity equal to or greater than 10^5 Ω/□ but less than 10^12 Ω/□, and a volume resistivity equal to or greater than 10^4 Ω but less than 10^11 Ω. Although the rate of static charge movement on the surface of such materials is significantly lower than that of electrostatic conductors, the charge generated on the surface during friction can diffuse and leak relatively quickly. Due to their higher resistivity, these materials do not cause discharge and can be used for ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging and in the transfer environments of general ESDS (electrostatic discharge sensitive) product production and assembly. Grounding measures are usually required during use. These materials are mostly polymer-based composites mixed with conductive materials.
Electrostatic safety voltage is the voltage value at which discharge from an electrostatic source to a product in a sensitive state does not cause damage or ignition. The current industry standard "Technical Requirements for Anti-Static Work Areas" classifies the allowable electrostatic potential to ground |V| in anti-static work areas with a threshold of 100V, meaning the indoor electrostatic potential |V| should not exceed 100V.
Currently, there is no unified global standard for testing the electrostatic properties of materials. Results may vary depending on the standard, conditions, and instruments used. The measurement report recognized by quality inspection departments, in accordance with SJ/T10694 "General Specification for Anti-Static Testing of Electronic Product Manufacturing and Application Systems," should be taken as authoritative.
Flame retardancy inhibits, slows, or stops the spread of flames. Flame retardancy does not mean that the material will not burn at all, but rather that it can delay the combustion process and prevent the rapid spread of flames when exposed to a fire source. The fundamental property of flame-retardant materials is self-extinguishment upon removal from the fire source.
Anti-static flame-retardant plastic sheeting involves adding appropriate amounts of anti-static additives and flame-retardant additives to the material to reduce its resistivity and alter its combustion properties.
It is a soft, transparent film with anti-static and flame-retardant properties, belonging to the category of flame-retardant volume-conductive electrostatic dissipative materials and electrostatic sub-conductive materials.
